HISTORY OF UKI SOCCER CLUB

In the beginning of 1994 a meeting was called by James Hodges from Midginbil  to see if there was any interest in starting a soccer club at Uki.A committee was formed following this meeting and an agreeme nt was made with the Sports and Recreation Club for the use of the grounds and club house.Uki Soccer Club was formed under the banner of the Uki Sports and Recreation Club.A competition was held to find a name for the club and The Uki Pythons was choosen.The sign on in 1994 was approx 120 children in teams from the under 6's through to the under 12's,  they played in the Tweed District Soccer Association competition.Parents started to play social soccer in 1994/1995, competing with Burringbar and Murwillumbah. This then lead to Uki's involvment in the senior competition.
